In Christ Alone My Hope Is Found

"So then, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with the saints, and members of God's household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus Himself as the cornerstone. In Him the whole building, being put together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. In Him you are also being built together for God's dwelling in the Spirit."

What is a cornerstone?

A cornerstone is the first and most important stone placed when constructing a building. Every other stone is measured and aligned from it. If the cornerstone is strong and properly placed, the entire structure will stand firm.

When we build a house today, we pour a solid concrete foundation before anything else is built. Without that foundation, the house would eventually crack, shift, or even collapse.

Jesus is our cornerstone.

He is the firm foundation our faith is built upon.

He is where our hope comes from.

He is where our strength comes from.

When the storms of life come—and they will—we don't have to crumble because our lives are anchored in Him.

The question is this:

Who are we trusting?

Are we trusting Jesus with our lives, or are we trying to carry everything on our own?

Learning to Trust

For many of us, that isn't an easy question to answer.

If you're anything like me, you're a fixer.

I like to solve problems.

I like to have a plan.

Waiting on God isn't always easy because I want things to happen on my timeline instead of His.

But I've learned that trying to force things to happen only creates frustration.

When I rush ahead of God, I often miss what He's trying to teach me.

Sometimes what we want for ourselves isn't what God has planned for us.

And thankfully so.

Because God's plans are always greater than anything we could imagine.

Standing on the Solid Rock

God has incredible plans for each of us—plans that will bring Him glory and further His Kingdom as we faithfully follow His leading.

Some seasons require us to move.

Other seasons require us to wait.

Both require trust.

I've walked through seasons where waiting felt incredibly difficult, but I've also discovered that those seasons were where God grew my faith the most.

When we choose to be still...

When we remain in His Word...

When we trust Him with every part of our lives...

We discover something beautiful.

We find hope.

Not hope in our circumstances.

Not hope in our own abilities.

But hope in Jesus Christ—our firm foundation and our solid rock.

In Christ alone, our hope is found.

No matter what season you're walking through today, remember this:

When your life is built on Jesus, your foundation will never fail.
