When I study God's Word, I want to understand what I'm reading—not just read through the passage and move on. While the Holy Spirit is our greatest Teacher, I also enjoy using trusted Bible commentaries to help me gain additional insight and historical context.

There are many wonderful commentaries available, but these are the two I find myself returning to over and over again. They're both easy to use, completely free, and have helped me grow in my understanding of Scripture.

BibleRef

My first recommendation is BibleRef.

One of the reasons I love this site is because it goes verse by verse instead of presenting an entire chapter of commentary all at once. I can get overwhelmed when I'm faced with pages of text, so I appreciate how simple and organized BibleRef is.

It also allows you to view multiple Bible translations, explore related passages, and discover biblical themes connected to the verse you're studying.

To use the site, simply search for the verse you're studying. You'll first see the Scripture, and then as you scroll down, you'll find the commentary for that verse. When you're ready to continue, just click Next Verse to keep studying.

It's clean, easy to navigate, and one of my favorite resources for daily Bible study.

Enduring Word

My second favorite is Enduring Word by Pastor David Guzik.

Unlike BibleRef, Enduring Word presents commentary for an entire chapter while breaking down the meaning of each passage. I enjoy using it when I want a broader understanding of the chapter and how each section fits together.

One feature I appreciate is that the site is available in several different languages, making it a wonderful resource for believers around the world.

Pastor David Guzik originally created these notes while preparing his Bible teachings and later made them freely available so others could benefit from them.

Which One Do I Use Most?

Honestly...I use both!

If I'm studying a single verse, I usually start with BibleRef because it's simple, clean, and easy to follow.

If I want to understand an entire chapter or dive a little deeper into a passage, I often turn to Enduring Word.

Both websites are completely free to use, although they do accept donations if you feel led to support their ministries.
