My Daily Quiet Time Routine (and the Bible Study Supplies I Love)

Spending time with God each day has completely changed my life. It's where I find peace, encouragement, wisdom, and strength for whatever the day brings. If you're not sure where to begin, I wanted to share what my quiet time typically looks like and some of my favorite Bible study supplies.

Remember—your quiet time doesn't have to be perfect. The goal isn't checking a box; it's simply spending time with Jesus.

I Begin with Prayer

Every morning, I start by inviting God into our time together. I thank Him for a new day, ask Him to open my heart to His Word, and pray that He would teach me what He wants me to learn.

I Read My Bible Every Day

Right now, I'm reading through a one-year Bible reading plan from The Alabaster Co., and I've absolutely loved it! It's helped me stay consistent, and I've already decided I'll be doing another reading plan next year.

If I could encourage you with one thing, it would be this: simply spend time in God's Word every day. You don't have to read huge sections. Even a few verses each day can have a lasting impact.

Verse Mapping Has Changed My Bible Study

If you've been around my YouTube channel for long, you know I'm a little obsessed with verse mapping! 😊

Verse mapping has helped me slow down, study Scripture more deeply, and grow closer to the Lord. In fact, on the rare days I don't verse map, I genuinely miss that special time with Him.

Bible Studies & Devotionals

Some mornings I'll work through a devotional or a Bible study instead of spending extra time journaling. The Daily Grace Co. has some wonderful studies that I've truly enjoyed. If you're looking for recommendations, check out my favorite Bible studies.

Christian Books

God often uses Christian books to encourage and challenge me, so I usually keep one nearby to read during my quiet time. Every season looks a little different, but reading God's Word and verse mapping are the two things I rarely skip.

My Favorite Bible Study Supplies

Over the years, I've tried a lot of Bible journaling supplies. Here are the ones I reach for again and again.

My Favorite Journal

I've used many journals over the years, but my favorite is one I randomly discovered on Amazon. I'm currently on my fifth one!

It lays completely flat, has plenty of room for verse mapping, journaling, and sermon notes, and has become a staple in my daily quiet time.

Highlighters

I'm pretty picky about what I use in my Bible.

The Mr. Pen Highlighters are still my favorite because they have beautiful colors and don't bleed through the pages like many others do.

Mildliner Pens

One of my favorite discoveries has been the Zebra Mildliner Pens.

They have a chisel tip for highlighting on one end and a fine tip for writing on the other. They're perfect for Bible journaling, and yes...I may own every color. 🤪

Felt Tip Pens

I also love:

• Medium Tip Felt Tip Pens in pastel colors
• Paper Mate Felt Tip Pens (I definitely own every color!)
• Micro-Tip Pens for writing tiny notes without bleeding through Bible pages

Washi Tape & Stickers

One of my favorite ways to make Bible study more enjoyable is using washi tape and stickers.

Not only do they add color and creativity to my journal, but I also find that I remember Scripture better when I've spent time creatively engaging with it.

My Favorite Commentary

One of my favorite Bible study resources is the Christ-Centered Exposition Commentary series.

I purchased several volumes for Christmas in 2024, and they've quickly become my go-to commentaries. I especially appreciate how they explain Scripture while also showing practical application for everyday life.

My Favorite Bible

One Bible that has had a huge impact on my study time is The Jesus Bible.

I love how it points to Jesus throughout every book of Scripture, showing how the Old Testament connects beautifully to the New Testament.

Some of my favorite features include:
