One of the questions I get asked most often is, "What supplies do you use for verse mapping?" Today I wanted to share my favorite tools and a little about what my daily quiet time looks like.
If you don't already spend time with the Lord each day, I want to encourage you to start. It doesn't have to be complicated. God simply desires time with you, and those quiet moments with Him can truly change your day.
What My Quiet Time Looks Like
Every day looks a little different, but my quiet time usually includes these four things:
🙏 I Begin with Prayer
Before I open my Bible, I spend a few minutes praying and inviting God into our time together. I ask Him to teach me, reveal His truth, and help me apply His Word to my life.
📖 I Read My Bible
Right now I'm reading through a year-long Bible reading plan from The Alabaster Co., and I absolutely love it. It has helped me stay consistent, and I'm already planning to do another one next year.
❤️ I Verse Map
Verse mapping has completely changed my quiet time.
I honestly look forward to it every day because it helps me slow down, dig deeper into Scripture, and spend intentional time with the Lord. When I miss a day, I genuinely miss that closeness with Him.
If you're new to verse mapping, I've written several articles to help you get started. I hope they'll encourage you as you begin your own journey.
📚 Bible Studies & Christian Books
Some days I'll also work through a Bible study or devotional. The Daily Grace Co. has created some wonderful studies that I've really enjoyed.
I also love reading Christian books that God places on my heart for a particular season.
No two quiet times look the same, but the two things I make sure to do every day are read my Bible and spend time verse mapping.
My Favorite Verse Mapping Supplies
Over the years I've tried lots of different supplies, but these are the ones I reach for again and again.
📒 My Favorite Journal
I've used quite a few journals, but my favorite was actually a random Amazon find—and I'm currently on my fifth one!
I love that it lays completely flat, giving me plenty of room to write, verse map, and take notes.
🖍️ Highlighters
When it comes to Bible highlighters, I'm pretty picky.
My favorites are the Blieve Highlighters because they don't bleed through my Bible pages, and they come in so many beautiful colors.
✍️ Pens
Another favorite is the Paper Mate Felt Tip Pens.
I may own just about every color they make! 😊 They're smooth, vibrant, and perfect for Bible journaling and verse mapping.
🌸 Stickers & Washi Tape
I've also fallen in love with decorating my journal pages with stickers and washi tape.
Not only does it make my quiet time more enjoyable, but I've found that creating something beautiful actually helps me remember the verses I'm studying.
My Favorite Bible Commentary
One of my favorite Bible resources is the Christ-Centered Exposition Commentary series.
I bought myself a few for Christmas in 2024, and they've become one of my favorite study tools.
What I love most is how they explain Scripture while also helping me apply God's Word to everyday life. They've helped me understand the Bible on a much deeper level, and I find myself reaching for them often during my study time.
I hope these are helpful! Remember, the most important part of your quiet time isn't having the perfect supplies—it's spending time with Jesus. The pens, journals, and highlighters are simply tools that help us engage more deeply with His Word.
Happy verse mapping! ❤️
